Dr. Shapiro is known for her dedication (and the number of hours she spends in the office). She has been known to remark, "I have been truly blessed because I love what I do."
Dr. Elaine Shapiro was brought up in New York City on Pelham Parkway in the Bronx. She attended Queens College. She was accepted in podiatry school after completing only 3 years of college. Following the years of study at the California College of Podiatric Medicine, she attended an externship in surgical residency at Northlake Illinois.
In 1991, Dr. Elaine Shapiro became Board Certified in Podiatric Surgery by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery, the most highly recognized board in podiatric surgery. During the same year she became a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.
Dr. Shapiro was one of the first to be certified in laser surgery,as well as the heel spur procedure: Endoscopic plantarfasicotomy. As a result, Dr. Shaprio observes many surgeons who wish to perform these types of modalities at local hospitals in Tucson. She was also asked to be chairman of the laser department of podiatric surgery at St. Joseph's Hospital for the Laser Centers of America
